One Piece‘s Egghead arc is about to come to an end in the hit anime series, and the final episode has set a release date for later this month. One Piece Season 21 first began airing in January 2024, and since then, it has released over 60 episodes. Now, Toei Animation has set a hiatus for the anime. Once the final episode airs, One Piece will take another hiatus and return in April 2026.

According to Comicbook.com, One Piece has four more episodes remaining, with a finale date of December 24, 2025. Throughout One Piece’s Egghead Arc, the Straw Hat Pirates arrive at Egghead, a futuristic island and the home of Dr. Vegapunk, a scientist employed by the World Government. This arc has revealed numerous things, such as the nature of the Devil Fruits, details about the Void Century, more character backstories, and the introduction of Joy Boy, the first-ever pirate, voiced by Luffy’s original voice actress before the anime adaptation was released.

The Egghead Arc is part of One Piece’s “Final Saga,” which is said to contain the franchise’s final chapters. The “Final Saga” was first released in 2022, starting with the Egghead Arc, the 32nd story arc of the manga. The Final Saga is still ongoing, as it’s in the middle of the Elbaph Arc, which will be the anime’s next season once it returns in 2026.

As of writing, One Piece has no official end date. According to GameRant, Eiichiro Oda once said the manga would end in 2025, but it seems it won’t end anytime before 2030. While an end date remains unknown, the author has shared his vision for how he wants the franchise to end. Fortunately, the anime adaptation doesn’t have to worry about filler or adjusting the pacing to avoid episodes overlapping with the current chapters. Toei Animation has announced it is changing how it produces the anime, moving towards a more seasonal model, limited to a maximum of 26 episodes per year, in hopes of “incorporating more of the source material and to follow the manga’s pacing.”

One Piece is an ongoing anime series based on Oda’s 1997 manga of the same name and has released over 1,100 episodes since the first episode aired in 1999. In addition to its 20+ season run, the franchise has also released numerous films, with the most recent being 2022’s One Piece Film: Red, which generated over $246.5 million worldwide. One Piece continues to find praise amongst fans throughout its over two decades of broadcasting, with a 92% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes and an 8.75 score on MyAnimeList.

One Piece is available to stream on Crunchyroll and Netflix. Follow Collider to stay updated.
